Kammers, 70, of 529 Hillsdale Avenue, Syracuse, N.Y., a former Ionia resident, died Monday in Syracuse. He was born Aug. 17, 1921, in Ionia, the son of Joseph and Mary Ann Laux Kammers and was a graduate of Ionia High School. He was a retired conductor for Conrail railway system, where he had been employed 36 years. His wife Jane died in 1989. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Jane Cole of Manilius, N.Y.; two sons, Joseph Kammers of Peekskill, N.Y., and Dennis Kammers of Syracuse, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; three brothers, John Kammers of Atlantic Highlands, N.J., and Lawrence and Philip Kammers of Ionia. His twin, Peter, preceded him in death in 1954. Funeral services will be Friday at 8:30 a.m. at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse, N.Y., 13206, and at 9 a.m. at St. Vincent’s Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
