He was born in Charlevoix county September 23, 1901. He was married to Bernetta Mosher of Muskegon August 2, 1926. They have lived in Ionia since 1936 and in their present home since 1938. He was employed by the Jonathan Hale Milling company as a miller for 14 years and worked at Fisher Body for two years. He has operated the Marathon service station on East Lincoln avenue since Labor Day. He was a member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church. Surviving besides the widow or two daughters, Mrs. LaVern Possehn of Easton and Evelyn at home; two sons, Herman of Ionia and Airman 1-c James Kamradt stationed at a U.S. Air Force base at Tokyo; four grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. August Bulman of Ellsworth; seven brothers, Edward, Herman, Lewis and Elmer of East Jordan, Albert of Traverse City, Henry of Grand Rapids and Robert of Muskegon. Services will be conducted at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran church, date to be announced upon word from the Red Cross on whether the son in Japan will be able to arrive home for the services. The Rev. Cash of St. Johns is scheduled to officiate with interment in Easton cemetery. The body will repose at the Boynton funeral home.
