Ionia Sentinel, 12 May 1952

Lawrence B. Kane, 56, employee of the Ionia Manufacturing company and vice 
president of the CIO-United Furniture Workers here, died unexpectedly Saturday, 
May 10, at 11:30 p.m. at his home at 728 West Main Street.

He was born in North Plains township November 29, 1895, son of Richard J. and 
Mary Kane.  He farmed for several years before moving to Ionia in 1935.  He was 
married to Freida Davis of Ionia March 29, 1937.  He was a member of SS. Peter 
and Paul church.

Kane was employed at the Ionia Manufacturing company for 13 years and was 
financial secretary of the CIO-United Furniture Workers for five years and has 
been vice president for two years.

Surviving are the wife; four sisters, Mrs. Mary O’Berry of Ionia, Mrs. Edward 
Cusack of Muir and Mrs. Tom Cunningham and Mrs. Thomas Donahue of Hubbardston; 
and a brother, Richard, of Hubbardston.

Services will be held at SS. Peter and Paul church Wednesday at 9 a.m.  Burial 
will be in Mt. Olivet cemetery.  Rosary will be said Tuesday at 8:15 p.m.
