Ionia County News, 13 Mar 1941

Bert Kanouse, Ionia contractor, died Sunday, March 9, at the Ionia Community 
hospital, following a week’s illness of pneumonia.  Mr. Kanouse, who was 67 
years old, was born in Easton township in 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank 
Kanouse.

He was married to Julia Dreger of Ionia in 1904.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Glenn Marcusson, two sons, Clyde 
and William, both of Ionia.  Also two grandchildren.

Rev. Paul L. Stewart officiated at the funeral service, held from Bradley 
Funeral home at three o’clock, Wednesday afternoon.  The Moose lodge, of which 
he was a member, attended in a body.

Pall bearers were Herbert Ross, Henry Hamilton, Hal Tanner, Henry Alberts, 
Charles Grooms, and Sheriff Leslie Murphy.  Burial was in Highland Park 
cemetery.  Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Oswald Jones, Mrs. Harry Hill and 
Mrs. Victor Hedstrom.
