Kanouse, 78, went to be with the Lord on August 7, 2003 in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He was born August 4, 1925 to parents, L.D. Kanouse and Alice D. (Lowe) at Lyons Lake, Marshall, Michigan. His wife Judy and daughter Laurie of Lake Oswego survive him. He is also survived by sons Steve of Gallup, New Mexico, and Robert (Claire) of Temple Texas; granddaughters Crystal of Colorado and Lisa of Tucson, Arizona; grandsons, George, Christopher, Aaron, David and Lantz; stepchildren, Robyn, Neil, and Cory Ebbin; mother-in-law, Lillian Schulman of Lake Oswego; brother Norman of Saginaw; and sister Margaret Hammond of Ionia and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both his beloved wife of 40 years, Eve (Smith) Kanouse and son Alan, and parents. He was raised in Ionia County and graduated from Ionia High School in 1943. He graduated from Western Michigan University and while attending the university he met and married Eve Smith. He always enjoyed and participated in sports and music. He briefly taught in Eaton Rapids before moving to Tucson, Arizona. He had a combined 38 years of teaching. Lynn was blessed with the gift of love a second time with Judy, with whom he shared the remainder of his life. Lynn possessed a wide variety of talents and interests. He took special delight in his grandchildren and they in him. His woodworking skills led him to build many fine pieces of furniture. He was a special teacher who had the innate ability to reach the unapproachable student. His students respected and loved him. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 23, 3 p.m. at the St. Francis Church in Tucson Foothills. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Hospice in Lynn’s name.
