Kanouse, 80, of Saginaw, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the James E. Cartwright Car Center. The son of the late Leon and Alice (Lowe) Kanouse, Norman was born June 6, 1923 in Lyon Lake. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Norman was a graduate of Bob Jones University and had been employed at Swan Valley Schools from 1963 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was a member of its choir. Norman was an active volunteer at the Saginaw City Rescue Mission and had assisted students obtain their GEDs. Surviving are one sister, Margaret Hammond of Ionia and several nieces and nephews. Norman was preceded in death by his brother, Lynn Kanouse in August 2003. Honoring Norman’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2004 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1734 N. Mason, Saginaw, Michigan. Pastor Mark Hazen will officiate. Burial of cremains will take place in Woodard Lake Cemetery, Ionia. Those planning an expression of sympathy may consider memorials to the Saginaw Rescue Mission.
