Paul L. Stewart officiating. Interment was in Highland Park cemetery. Mrs. Kanouse was the widow of Francis Kanouse, a civil war vet who passed away in 1919. The couple had lived in Ionia almost all of their lives. Besides the son, Mrs. Kanouse is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Edward Simmons of Grand Rapids and several grandchildren. Mrs. Kanouse and her parents came to Ionia from Oakland county shortly after the birth of Mrs. Kanouse. She had a life of extreme hardship especially during the time her husband was serving in the war, when she was obliged to run their farm in Easton township all by herself. At this time she had three children to provide for.
