James L. Kapcia, of Portland, died Sept. 3, 2005 at the age of 70.  He was born 
in Detroit Aug. 7, 1935.  Mr. Kapcia had retired from United Airlines as a 
customer service representative.  

He was preceded in death by his parents.  Surviving are his wife of 44 years, 
Judie, whom he married on June 10, 1961; daughter, Carole (Scott) Hanbury of 
Cincinnati, Ohio; son, Michael (Gwen) Kapcia of Portland; grandchildren, 
Travis, Megan, and Rachel Kapcia and Luke and Hannah Hanbury; brothers, Raymond 
(Virginia) Kapcia of Caseville and Norman (Patricia) Kapcia of Houston, Texas.

Memorial services were held Sept. 6 at St. Patrick Catholic Church with the 
Rev. Fr. Larry King officiating.  The family was served by the Gorsline-
Runciman Company Lansing Chapel.  Contributions may be made to Ingham Hospice, 
825 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.
