Ionia Sentinel Standard - 22 Jan 1977
Leon J. Karrar, 75 of route three died early Friday morning at his Tupper Lake 
home after an eight month illness.  He was born in Campbell township January 15, 
1903, the son of Joseph and Matilda Gengrich Karrar.  He attended Bret Eckardt 
and Mill rural schools and was an area resident most of his life.  He married 
the former Virginia Stambaugh January 25, 1934 in Angola, Indiana.

An employee of Fisher Body in Lansing, he retired September 30, 1965.  He 
attended the Sebewa Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Donna Vance of Hastings, Marjorie 
Karrar of Grand Rapids, Mrs. Gayla Hines of Waco, Texas, Mrs. Phyllis Hyvarinen 
of Lansing; one son, Forrest of Greenville and six grandchildren.

Services are Monday at 2 pm from the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel.  Burial in 
East Sebewa cemetery.  The family will receive friends and relatives at the 
funeral home Saturday 7 to 8:30 pm and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9.
