Kart, One of the Last to Be Suspected of Despondency by Business Associates. Take His Life. Apparently no one in public life and only a very few in private life had in any way thought the actions of George Kart mysterious previous to his having ended his life here Friday about 11:30 a.m. A nervous disorder is now blamed for the sudden death which was a consternation to his family, his friends and his many business and social associates. Perhaps no other man of this village had the general ability of George Kart. He was a loyal business man conducting his milling business on a practical basis In the community. His advice was often sought in civic affairs. For several years he was a member of the village council. As Fire chief he was always on the job. For many year he was secretary of the board of education, which office he held when our present school house was built. His reports involving many intricate feature were always clear and correct. As a musician Mr.Kart preferred the saxophone and was often called upon for orchestra and solo work, he having a particularly entertaining voice and was willing to give of his time and talent for others. Mr. Kart was an official member of Central Methodist Church and was often called upon to assist with music for special occasions. He was a member of the Grand Rapids consistory. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spent some time, with his wife, every year at his "shack" on Pine river. He was a correspondent for the Grand Rapids Press and for the Lansing Journal. Mr.Kart was born in 1882, in Carlton township. Thirty-one years ago he was married to Miss Maude Linhart of Sunfield. About this time he acquired the Mills known as Kart's Flouring Mills. He leaves besides his heart-broken widow, a daughter Louise, and a model home, besides a good business, also a good many relatives and loyal friends. The funeral for which he had planned was held at the home conducted by H.Mapes, undertaker, a dear friend of the family, Rev. Leon W. Manning, his pastor, gave the address and burial was a Lakeside cemetery amid flowers which had filled the room in his home where his body lay in state. Mr.Kart seemed to have had his act in mind previous to his death as messages left gave evidence which shows a growing peculiar mental condition, yet his life had the outward appearance of ordinary routine.
