He leaves to mourn his loss a loving and devoted wife, one daughter, Mrs.Bert Gilliland and five grandchildren, his father, two brothers,John and George, two sisters, Mrs. Cora and Mrs. Rena Stadle, and a host of distant relatives and esteemed friends. About seven years ago he began to be troubled with a growth on the glands on the left side of his neck which slowly developed into the rare and dreaded Hodgkins's disease for which there seems to be no known cure. About the second week in January he was taken to his bed and has gradually become weaker and wasted away until the end came Thursday morning just as a new day dawned. Every known medical and surgical skill has been employed as well as the best of care but all to no avail. He was the on the oldest businessmen in this place, having operated a Hardware store in partnership with O.A. Lapo. For many years he was a traveling salesman, in the employ of The Plano Mfg.CO., The Champion Binder & Mower Co., and the International Harvester Co. He erected the Ford garage now known as the Gates & Huntzinger garage, which place he operated for eight years, until his failing health forced him to lose out his business. His faithful wife has always been closely associated with him in all his business undertaking. He has spent the most of his conscious and waking hours in prayer and thanksgiving and his trust has been unfaltering to the last. He was a charter member of the Lake Odessa I.O.O.F. Lodge. Rev. Abram H. Lash officiated, at the funeral services, which were largely attended Saturday at the residence. Mrs.Harley Owen and Miss Ile Lucas sang.Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
