Kart, 80, pioneer resident of Ionia county, died at his home at Lake Odessa on Wednesday morning at 8:30 o’clock. Death followed an illness of several years of failing health. It was 1868 that Mr. Kart moved to Lake Odessa and has since made that village his home. He was a Civil war veteran and for several terms he was councilman of Lake Odessa. At one time he was drain commissioner of Campbell township. He was owner of Kart’s mill at one time, but retired on account of ill health a few years ago. He is survived by a widow, two daughters, Mrs. F. E. Stadel and Mrs. Hurd Green, both of Lake Odessa; two sons, John Kart, who is postmaster at Augusta, and George Kart of Lake Odessa. The funeral will be held on Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock. Rev. Peter Messner of Campbell township will be in charge.
