Kassner, 85, of Sunfield, died June 18 at his home. Mr. Kassner was born April 26, 1917 in Mecosta County, the son of Thomas and Myrtle (Green) Kassner. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II and retired from the Michigan Department of Transportation in 1979. Mr. Kassner was preceded in death by his wife, Maebelle in 1994 and his grandson, Dennis Rice in 1973. Surviving are: two daughters, Linda (Bernard) Tyler of Lansing and Ellen (Gerry) Weller of Sunfield, one son, Larry (Deboria) Scarborough of Vestaburg; 11 grandchildren, several great and great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Jenkins of Sylvester and Violet Bunker of Lansing. Services were held at Barker-Leik Funeral Home in Mulliken with Mr. Raymond Lowe officiating. Military honors were provided by the Portland V.F.W. Post 4090 in Danby Cemetery. Pallbearers were Karen Badgley, Brad Durrant, April Lampani, Larry Scarborough, Terry Scarborough, Travis Scarborough and Dan Sweet.
