Sharon R. Kastanek, age 69, of Saranac, passed away June 3, 2009 in Saranac.

She was born Oct. 8, 1939 in Motley, Minn. the daughter of Raymond and Clara 
(Lewis) Melcher. Sharon married Rudolf Kastanek June 15, 1957 in Pine River. 
He preceded her in death July 17, 1984. She was a member and Awana leader at 
Galilee Baptist Church. She was employed by Radio Bible Class Ministry in the 
mail room as a verifier and currently aided the Rural Bible Missions.

Sharon is survived by her sons, Raymond Rudy Kastanek of Lowell, Robert Edward 
Kastanek of Palm Springs, Fla. and David Wayne Kastanek of Saranac; daughter, 
Clara Ann Clarke of Davison; brothers, Daniel Melcher of Wisconsin, Larry 
Melcher of Saranac, Paul Melcher of Georgia and Stanley Melcher of Grandville; 
sisters, Bessie Van Eck of Grandville and Martha Heinen of Canada and 15 
grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Galilee Baptist Church in 
Saranac with Pastor Andy Mooren officiating. Interment Rosedale Memorial 
Gardens. The family will receive friends and relatives Thursday 3-5 and 6:30 - 
8:30 p.m. at Lake Funeral Home in Saranac. Anyone wishing may make memorial 
contributions in Sharon's name to Galilee Baptist Church for Awana or church 
hymnals.
