Ionia Sentinel Standard, 20 Oct 1969

Vance B. Kauffman, 61, of 850 West Main died unexpectedly Saturday at his
residence.  He was born in Charlotte, January 29, 1908, the son of Arthur B. and
Delitha May Prescott Kauffman.

He was married to Alice Wetherbee, October 10, 1931 in Ionia.  He came from
Charlotte to Ionia in 1910.  He attended the Ionia school and was employed by
A.O. Smith Corporation and its predecessors.  He was an avid sportsman and spent
some time at their home and cottage near Lake City.

Surviving are his wife Alice; two sons Donald of Saranac and Arthur of Ionia and
a daughter, Mrs. William Leik of Ionia; 11 grandchildren; brother, Dale Kauffman
of Ionia; and sisters, Mrs. Bernard O’Connell and Mrs. A. Hoover of Ionia.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Stone-Kauffman funeral home.  Rev.
Theodore Forbes will officiate and interment will be at Balcom cemetery.
