August 8, 2017 NORA KAUFFMAN Nora Jane Kauffman, aged 86 of Saranac, passed away Aug. 5, 2017. She was born Jan. 31, 1931 in Walker Twp. the daughter of William K. and Wenonah (Guidinger) Hankinson. Nora graduated from Union High school Class of 1949 and later attended Grand Rapids Junior College where she received her associates degree. She married Donald Kauffman May 29, 1971 he preceded her in death in 2015. Nora was a member of the Saranac Community church, Saranac area Women's Club, Red Hat Society and the Out of Lunch Bunch. She was a past Saranac Village Board Member and volunteered at the Area Church Service Center in Ionia Surviving are her children; Georgienne Hammer of Omena, Beth (Brian) Kelly of Saranac, Terri (Allen) Bush of Ionia, Susan (Richard) Dues of Lowell and Gerald (Connie) Kauffman of Saranac. Brothers; Gordon Hankinson of Comstock Park, Bill (Joanne) Hankinson of Holland and Mike (Lori) Hankinson of Hudsonville. Grandchildren; Rebecca (Joe) Fleisher, Michael (Rachel) Kelly, Erin (Alan) Buckowing, Stephanie Bush (Anthony Westworth) Jessica (Jason) Ricket, Kendall Kauffman (Sam Cuveas), Dylan Dues, Jeremy (Taylor) Kauffman and Jack Dues. Thirteen Great grandchildren. Sister-in-law; Barb Kauffman of Ionia and many beloved nieces and nephews; best friend; Carole Wight of Saranac. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Don, daughter Annette (Dino) Hammer and an infant grandson. Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017 at Noon at the Saranac Community church with Pastor Becky Poor officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church 10 a.m. until the time of services.
