(Stone) Kauffman, 93, formerly of Ionia, passed away at Metron of Belding on Sunday afternoon, May 18, 2003. She was born in Ionia on December 5, 1909 to Orin and Blanche (Hoy) Stone. Lucy attended Ionia Public Schools and married Dale W. Kauffman on March 19, 1930. While living in Ionia Lucy was a member of First Christian Church where she was a choir member, pianist, and frequent soprano soloist. Lucy enjoyed her involvement in the Heloche-Keystone Class, Mother’s Study Club, Ionia PTA, Ladies Literary Club of Ionia, Ionia Garden Club, and the Michigan Funeral Directors Association. Lucy and her husband Dale owned and operated the former Stone-Kauffman Funeral Home in Ionia. Lucy is survived by her children, Lorana Gleason of Indian Head Park, Illinois, Roger S. and Barbara Kauffman of Wyoming, and Jane and Gordon Walkington of Portland; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale W. Kauffman; her great-grandchildren, Curtis Schmitt and Emilee Lynn Tiemann; and her son-in-law, Lee Gleason. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Koops Funeral Chapel in Lake Odessa. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Saranac Community Church. Burial will follow in Balcom Cemetery in Ionia.
