CLARKSVILLE- Thomas I. Kauffman, 73, Elmdale Road, Clarksville died Tuesday 
morning at Butterworth hospital where he has been a patient or the past 8 days. 

He was born May 16, 1905 in Hutchinson, Kansas the son of Joas and Polly Ann 
(Miller) Kauffman. His parents moved to Exeland, Wisconsin when he was a small 
boy. 

Kauffman married Nellie Stutzman November 21, 1926 in Kolomna, Iowa. In 1969 
they moved to the Clarksville area to live. He was a member of the Bowne 
Mennonite church and was a self-employed lumberman.

Surviving are his wife, Nellie; 2 daughters, Mrs. William (Viola) Wroblewski of 
Colorado Springs, Colorado; Ms. Donald (Ila) Kauffman of Apple Creek, Ohio; 12 
grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Chester Kauffman of Gold 
Bar, Washington; Harvey Kauffman, Nappa, California; 2 sisters, Ms. Robert Emma 
(Sherman), Post Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Edna Gardner, Iowa City, Iowa; one grandson, 
Kevin, preceded him in death on June 5, 1978.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 at the Bowne Mennonite church, Alto with 
Elder LaVern Suartz officiating. Burial will be in the Bowne Mennonite 
cemetery.

The family will be at the Pickens-Koops funeral chapel, Clarksville, Thursday 
from 7 to 9 pm.
