PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -  Mrs. Alberta Kauffman, 72, a former Alto resident, died 
April 5 at Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, Fla.

She was born June 18, 1908 in Ionia, the daughter of Burton and Ethel Bender 
Mitchell.

She graduated from Ionia High School and attended Ionia County Normal. She 
received her bachelor's degree from Ferris State College and her Master's degree 
from Western Michigan University.

She married Daniel Kauffman July 10m 1929 in LaGrange, Ind. and lived in the 
Alto area most of her life and the past 11 years in Florida.

Mrs. Kauffman was a member of the Michigan Teachers' Association, Grace Calvary 
Brethren Church of Alto and the Baptist Church of Port Charlotte.

Surviving are her husband, Daniel; two daughters, Mrs. Velma Jean Ford of Grand 
Rapids and Mr. Margaret Ilene Hoist of Allegan; one son, Daniel Jr. of Lake 
Port, Calif.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, the Rev. 
Dale Mitchell of St. Petersburg, Fla.; four sisters, Mrs. Blanche Kauffman of 
Freeport, Mrs. Margaret Seidelman of Ionia, Mrs. Esther Hyler of Stanton and 
Mrs. Maxine West of Greenville.

Services will beheld Friday at 2 p.m. from the Grace Calvary Brethren Church of 
Alto with the Rev. Charles Flowers officiating.

Burial will be in Bowne Mennonite Cemetery in Alto.

Visitation will be in the Pickens-Koops Funeral Chapel in Clarksville today from 
7-9 p.m. and tomorrow from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

A memorial has been established for the Heart Fund.
