The remains of Solomon Keefer were brought to Portland last week from Traverse City, his death having taken place in the asylum early in the week. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church Wednesday afternoon and burial was in Keefer cemetery in Orange. Deceased was a cousin of the Keefers and brother-in-law of the Nicholson boys and had resided in Orange up to 22 years ago, when he went to Greenville. It was while visiting at Albert Keefer’s last fall that he was stricken with apoplexy. For a time it was thought he would die, but he improved physically, though his mind was permanently affected, and it became necessary to send him to the asylum. He is survived by his wife and a daughter, who live in Greenville. Mrs. Henry Townsend, of Portland, is a niece. Mr. Keefer was in comfortable circumstances and was 71 years of age.
