He was taken ill the latter part of the week with a severe cold which later developed into pneumonia. He was born in Orange township, about eight miles south and east of Ionia, on the farm where he resided until 11 years ago when he moved to Ionia. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Keefer and was born January 19, 1862. His father was one of the first residents in Orange township, having cleared the land there and cut away the timber and broke up the ground. As a boy Albert Keefer attended the Keefer school, which was named for his father, and was located about one-half mile from the old home. Upon finishing school he worked with his father on the farm. He was married November 15, 1892, to Miss Eva Taft, who resided about a mile from his home in Orange township. They lived on the Keefer farm for over 30 years until 11 years ago when Mr. Keefer retired from active farming and moved to Ionia. They resided for about two months on High street, and then purchased their home on East Main street where they have resided every since. He was one of a family of five children, and only one sister survive. His son, Earl Keefer, of Lyons, was killed three years ago in a traffic accident east of Muir on M-21. Surviving besides his wife are one son, Floyd, who resides on the Keefer farm in Orange township; one sister, Mrs. Laura Fitch, of Lyons, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the home at 527 East Main street, Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. Paul L. Stewart, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park mausoleum.
