Keefer of Keefer highway, rural Lyons, died Thursday at Carson City Hospital. He was born on the family farm taken up by his great grandfather in 1847, on April 3, 1906, the son of S.Wilson and C.Elida Judd Keefer. He attended Keefer rural school and graduated from Lyons High School with the Class of 1927. He was married to the former Elaine Ruehs on Aug.21, 1940 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Ionia and in 1952 they moved to the family homestead. After retiring from farming in 1968, he was employed by Builder's Lumber and Supply, Portland; Coe-Hayden Oldsmobile, and Swift's farm Supply, Muir. He was a member of St.John's Lutheran Church and a life member of the Lyons Masonic Lodge. Surviving are his wife; two sons, the Rev.terry Keefer of Colon and Philip of Lyons; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Dr.Judd Keefer, who died in 1948, and a sister, Gayla Dunsmore who died in 1961. Funeral services will be Saturday a 2 pm. from St.John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev.Theodore Voll officiating. Burial will be in Keefer cemetery. The family will be at Montgomery-Leddick Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A Memorial has been established for St.John's Lutheran Church, in care of the funeral home.
