Former Resident Dies at Hastings

Ms. Hazel Keeler, 75, of Hastings, former Lake Odessa resident, passed away 
Tuesday, August 17 at the Barry County Medical Care Facility where she had been 
a patient for a year and a half. 

She was born in Ionia County, august 24, 1908, the daughter of Wilbur and Myrtie 
(Stairs) Smith and attended the Carlton Township Schools.

She married George Keeler of Carlton Township, April 12, 1919 and lived in the 
Woodland area and moved to Hastings in the late 1920's.

Surviving are her husband, four sons, Raymond and Leo of Hastings and John and 
Ralph of Lake Odessa; one daughter, Mrs. Harold (Arlene) Strimback of Hastings; 
19 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren; one brother, Leo Church of Hastings 
and a sister, Mrs. Reatha Scheib of Wayland.

Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 at the Leonard Osgood Funeral Home at 
Hastings. Rev. W.L. McGinnis officiated with burial in the Hastings Township 
Cemetery.

Mrs. Keeler was a niece of the late Ruth Geiger and Fred Smith.
