He married Miss Mary Ann Braendle in 1886 in Heidelberg, Ontario, who died Sept. 15, 1916. To this happy union were born four children: Samuel of Ionia; Mrs. Maude Alderink of Clarksville, Burton of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Clara of Saranac. Nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren are left to mourn his departure. At the age of 27 he was soundly converted and joined the New Midianite church. Later he joined the Free Methodist church, of which he has been a faithful member for over 40 years. He was held in high esteem by the people of Saranac who knew him, and loved and respected in the church of his choice. The funeral was held in the Saranac Free Methodist church Saturday afternoon, conducted by the Pastor, Rev. B.R. Parsons. Burial in Saranac cemetery.
