When quite young he moved to Michigan, living on a farm near Tecumseh. In 1853 he was married to Alice Chase, moving to Lyons in 1854, since which time he has been an honored and respected citizen of the village, holding many positions of public trust. Deceased was the father of seven children, four of whom survive, William and Mrs. Nora Oakes, Lyons, Mrs. Stella Hawley, St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. Cora McFarlane, Cannon City, Colorado. The funeral was held Friday from the home, being conducted by Rev. H. E. Wylie. The pall-bearers were Henry Searing, Alfred Bunnell, Frank Gleason, Wm. Keefer, A. K. Root and John Hale.
