                                    KELLEY

Richard "Dick" Lee Kelley, 1928-2022, born in Grand Rapids on June 23, 1928 to 
Frank and Minnie (Jahnke) Kelley.

Richard graduated from Ionia High School in 1946 where he participated in 
football, basketball, baseball and track. He enjoyed sports and excelled in 
them. He was elected into the Detroit Times High School Hall of Fame in 1946.

He was an avid bowler on a league for 70 years. He also enjoyed fishing, golf, 
and wood working in his shop. He was active in Little League and baseball as a 
coach and umpire.Nothing gave him more pleasure than watching his grandkids play 
sports. 

He served his country in the National Guards for nine years and was 
Master/Sargent.

He retired from the Stare of Michigan industries in 1982 as the supervisor in 
the Garment Factory.

He married the love of his life, Dorothea Smith, on September 27, 1950. He loved 
her more than life itself. They enjoyed sixty-three and a half years together. 
Life wasn't the same for Richard after her passing.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothea (Smith) Kelley; parents, Frank and 
Minnie (Jahnke); brother, Charles (Issabell) Kelley; sister, Frances (Ronald) 
Burrows.

Richard is survived by  his four children, Pat (Kandy), Mike (Sue), Jim 
(Sherri), Ann (Joe) Schueller, 9 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church November 
19,, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be at the Lake Funeral Home in Ionia on 
Friday 4-7 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m.
