L. Kelner, in Ionia, on Thursday, March 11, 1909 – thus having attained the ripe age of 91 years past. He came to Michigan 63 years ago, settled on and cleared what is now known as the Houghton farm in Ronald. He then moved to the State of Ohio, returning to Michigan after an absence of five years, locating again in Ronald, where he continued to reside until about seven years ago, when he came to the home of his son, George L., where the sunset side of his life was made comfortable to the end. Deceased was twice married. His first wife passed away 51 years ago. To this union were born seven children, two daughters and one son surviving. His second marriage was to Phebe Spear, who died about eight years ago. There were no children by second marriage. Deceased leaves fifteen grandchildren, twenty- four great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. He was the last one of his father’s children (thirteen in number) to pass away. Mr. Kelner was converted about ten years ago, and lived a consistent Christian life to the end. The funeral service, conducted by Rev. D. H. Shelly, was held in the Woodard Lake church on Sunday, and he was laid to rest in the Woodard Lake cemetery.
