M. Kelsey died very suddenly on Saturday. He was working in the field and was suddenly attacked by heart disease. He went to the house and Dr. Allen was called. He got better and appeared comfortable through the day, but grew worse and died suddenly at night. Heart disease seems hereditary, as his brother, “Treat,” died suddenly, dropping in the road in 1862, and his father and a sister died of the same disease. “Tip,” as he was familiarly known, was born in Monroe county, N.Y., in 1840 and his nickname is a reminiscence of the famous “Tippecanoe and Tyler, too” campaign. He came to Michigan with his parents in 1854. He was a successful farmer and one of our most exemplary citizens who will be sadly missed. The funeral was held at the residence on Tuesday afternoon.
