Karlene was born in Belding on Feb. 11, 1965, the fourth child of Pastor Kenneth and Beverly Harger. She attended Chittle Elementary School, Orleans Elementary School and later graduated from Belding High School in 1983. Karlene was actively involved in many ways the Shiloh Community Church. Her lifelong concern for children led her to be a teacher of many different classes throughout her life, as well as organizing and nurturing the summer day camp for children of all ages. In 1983, she met her husband-to be, Blaine Kemme, and they married soon after on Sept. 22, 1984. Together, they have four children, Robert, Aileen, Christine and Ashley, whom she home-schooled. They all spent many hours remodeling and decorating their home and yard. Karlene loved flowers of many types and was very proud of her flower and vegetable gardens. She also loved the adventure of yard sales and the joy of finding treasures there. Karlene is survived by her husband and four children. Also surviving are her parents, Pastor Kenneth and Beverly Harger; her brother, Pastor Kendall (Juli) Harger; her sisters, Angie (Pastor Mike) Jacobson and Valerie (Dave) Dawdy; many nieces and nephews; and “adopted” parents, Dr. Robert and Debbie Rogers. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dawn Harger. A service celebrating the spiritual life and physical life of Karlene will be held Thursday, March 9, 2000, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth St., Orleans, with her father and brother, Pastors Kenneth and Kendall Harger officiating. A visitation for friends to celebrate Karlene’s life with her family will be held tonight at Shiloh Community Church from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that because of Karlene’s great concern for the education of her children, we have established as a memorial to her a fund for her children’s continuing education.
