The Greenville Independent, Wednesday, December 7, 1910

Elmer Kendall of Ronald, near Palo, aged 73 years.  He came from New York 
state to Montcalm county in 1862, locating in Pine and established a sawmill 
and the settlement was called Kendallville in his honor.  In 1885 he moved to 
Ionia county.  In the fifty-two years of married life of himself and wife 
death had never entered their home and all their children and grandchildren 
were present at the funeral.
