Ionia Sentinel Standard, 20 Jul 1972

Word was received in Ionia Thursday morning by Mrs. Donald Crawford of 155 
Lafayette of the death of her son-in-law, Herbert E. Kenney, 63? of Santa 
Maria, Calif.  He was a former resident of Ionia.  Kenny was a football star 
halfback in the 1920’s at Ionia high school.  He was the son of William and 
Nettie Kenney, late residents of South Ionia.

Surviving are his wife, the former Marie VanVleck of Ionia and now of Santa 
Maria; two sons, a daughter and several grandchildren, all of California.  
Funeral services will be at Santa Maria.
