Floyd James Kenney Jr., aged 76, of Ionia, passed away in the early morning 
hours of August 3, 2006. He was born August 16, 1929 in Ionia, the son of 
Floyd James Sr. and Pearl (Ritchey) Kenney. Floyd married Nita Jane DeLauder 
September 1, 1954 in Marion, Ohio, upon his honorable discharge from the US 
Navy. He served on the Aircraft Carrier USS FDR as an Aircraft Mechanic during 
operation Main Brace in the Mediterranean Sea.

He was a graduate of Ionia High School and Central Michigan University. He was 
an accomplished drummer in both high school and college marching bands and 
also various bands through out the years. He also enjoyed farming.

Floyd is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years Nita Kenney of Ionia; 
children, Gerald and Mel-Lisa Kenney of Ionia, Krista Ramon and Fiance Robert 
Acier of Ionia, Kevin Kenney of Lansing, Matthew and Dawn Kenney of Ionia; 
sisters, Beverly Hicks of Saranac, Alice and Donald Jones of Ionia; 
grandchildren, Anthony son of Krista, Jennifer and Matthew Jr. children of 
Matt and Dawn, and Geoffrey son of Gerald and Mel-Lisa.  He was preceded in 
death by his parents and one brother Richard Kenney.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday at Lake Funeral Home in Ionia 
with Deacon Zenon Cardenas officiating. Anyone wishing to make memorial 
contributions in Floyd's name to Ionia Commission on Aging Meals on Wheels or 
SS Peter & Paul School.
