Ionia County News - March 24, 1938


Nelson LeRoy Kenter, 78, died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Vern Piper, 
Bayard street at 7 O’clock Friday evening, March 18.

Mr Kenter, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Kenter, was born in New York state, 
September 15, 1859 and had lived in Ionia county for fifty years.

Besides Mrs. Piper, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Clara Wirtz and four sons, 
Nelson of Northville; John of Plymouth, Stephen of Ionia and George, living in 
Wisconsin. Mrs. Kenter died several years ago. Rev. Paul L. Stewart officiated 
at the funeral, held from Myers funeral home, at 2:30 Monday afternoon. Burial 
was in Highland Park Cemetery.
