Marvin Kenyon, Drain Commissioner of County Several Years, Passed assay at 80. Marvin E. Kenyon, former drain commissioner of Ionia county and Civil war veteran, died late Friday evening, at Portland, after a long illness. He was in his 80th year. Funeral services are to be held at the Baptist church Monday afternoon at 2:00. Burial will be under Masonic auspices. Mr. Kenyon was born in New York state, January 3, 1847. He enlisted for the Civil war and was a private in Co. E. 22d N.Y. Vol. Cal. At its close he came to Clayton township, near Flint, Mich., going from there to Ionia, where he worked two years. He then bought a farm in Sebewa township and it was while a resident of that township that he was appointed drain commissioner. With others from his vicinity, Mr. Kenyon located in North Dakota. He returned to this section five years ago, having spent 14 years in the west. His wife, who was Lucy Smith, died eight years ago. She was buried beside a daughter in a cemetery in Sebewa, but a few years ago both bodies were transferred to Portland cemetery, where Mr. Kenyon will also be buried. Surviving children are: Mrs. Dell Sherman, Lansing; Mrs. Fred Stout, Grand Rapids; Mrs. Eva Heintzleman, Hastings; Florian, George, Lansing; Christopher, Seattle; Charles, N. D.; Marvin, Jr., Grand Ledge. Lionel Kenyon, of Portland, is a brother. Additional Comments: Services: May 1926 Co. E 22nd. N.Y. Vol. Cav. Portland cemetery #B3-161 Ctf; b.
