Gretchen E. Kern, 78, formerly of Belding, died Monday at Springbrook Manor,
Grand Rapids.  Mrs. Kern was born Sept. 3, 1905, at Gowen.  She was a member of
Blue Star Mothers and Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  Her husband, Clinton, died in
1961.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Rosalie) Hansen, Wyoming, Mary Winn,
Novi; three sons, C. Frank, Pontiac, Donald, Lansing, Richard, Jenison; a
brother, Arthur Paulsen, Palmetto, Fla.; 11 grandchildren and 10
great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Belding,
the Rev. Paul Hauser officiating.  Interment will be in Otisco Cemetery. 
Visitation is tonight from 7 to 8:30 at Huffman Funeral Home, Belding.
