Belding – Mrs. Mary Jane Kersjes, 52, 846 Harrison St., Belding, died Monday at
Butterworth Hospital.
Mrs. Kersjes was born Feb. 9, 1924 in Belding and had been a lifelong area
resident.  She was a housewife and member of Belding Methodist Church and Hugo
Fales Post, American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Stanley M., whom she married Dec. 21, 1944 at
Belding; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Sandra) Shaffer, Grand Rapids; a son Jeffrey,
Wheeling, Ill.; her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Fitzjohn, Greenville; a step-sister,
Mrs. Thomas (Margaret) Isles, Lake Orion; two step-brothers, Leonard A.
Fitzjohn, Belding, Merril Fitzjohn, Temple City, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Belding United Methodist Church,
the Rev. Eugene A. Lewis officiating.  Interment will be in River Ridge
Cemetery. The family will meet with friends and relatives at Charles M. Courser
Funeral Home, Belding, tonight from 7 to 8:30 and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to
8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or
Belding United Methodist Church.
