She was born in Denver, Colo., on March 31, 1923, the daughter of Paul and Gladys Streeter Riggs. Betty was a graduate of Crystal High School, graduated from Butterworth Hospital School of Nursing as a registered nurse, served in the United States Army as a nurse serving during World War II in the Pacific Theater, formerly worked at United Memorial Hospital in Greenville and finished her career in nursing with Drs. Bird and Olsen and Dr. Charles Stevens’ offices. She was a member of the Nursing Association and the National Red Cross. She was married in Pontiac on April 25, 1953, to Donald W. Keselring. They made their home in Greenville on Bower Street for many years and also on Half Mile Lake until Don’s death on March 28, 1992. She is survived by her children, Sharon and Michael Phelps of Laingsburg, Jeffrey and Kimberly Keselring of Greenville; grandchildren, Nathan Keselring, Trisha Williams both of Greenville, Sam Phelps of Laingsburg, Jennifer Keselring of Greenville; great-granddaughter, Jordyn Christine Keselring; brothers, Paul and Ardith Riggs of Kalamazoo, Jim and Sheila Riggs of California; sister-in-law, Dena Keselring of Greenville; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 11 a.m. today at Hurst Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Rev. Dr. Harry R. Johnson officiating. Burial is in Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
