She had been living with her son for a month. Formerly she had resided with her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hamlin, of 701 Lafayette street. Mrs. Ketchum had been ill for several years. She was born in Scarborough, England, August 21, 1871, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Coates. She came to the United States when she was 11 years old and has lived in Ionia since that time. She married Gilbert Ketchum of Ionia in 1891 and he died in 1895. Mrs. Ketchum was a lifelong member of the First Baptist church. Surviving her is one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Hamlin, and a son, Merrell, both of Ionia. Another son, Gilbert, died in 1940. There are also eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 25, at 2:30 o’clock from the First Baptist church with interment in Highland Park cemetery. The Rev. W. L. Cruthers will officiate. The body will repose at Boynton’s funeral home until the time of the service. Subsequent Publication: Friday, September 26, 1947 Funeral services were held from the First Baptist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock for Mrs. Annie Ketchum, 76, who died at the home of her son, Merrell, 324 Pearl street Tuesday morning at 12:10 o’clock. The Rev. W. L. Cruthers gave the sermon. Interment was in the family lot at Highland Park cemetery. William and Robert Whitesides sang a duet. Floral arrangements were in charge of Mrs. Pearl Johnson and Mrs. Berdie Burlingame. Her bearers were Frank Beckhorn, Kenneth Beckhorn, Elmer Coates, Harry Burke, H.H. Darling and Fred Wortman. Attending the services from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scheible of Lansing and Mrs. Rudolph Heether and friend and Mrs. William Todd of Grand Rapids.
