He was born Aug. 21, 1950, to Lyle Jr. and Beverly Wilbur Ketchum. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 1968 and married the love of his life and best friend, Susan Hampel, on Nov. 9, 1968. And they lived in Lake Odessa for their entire married life. Lon worked as a concrete contractor first for his Father and Grandfather, then for his business, Ketchum Concrete. His son Aric has continued the tradition. He also loved mechanic work, drag racing, hunting and fishing. The hours he spent building his son's race car were especially important to him. He adored his grandchildren, spending time with them, and especially spoofing them. They were his joy. Lon loved God and he became especially close to Him, as well as closer to his family, after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease in December 2012. He loved his church, Faith Bible Baptist Church, as well as loved spending time with his dearest friend, Daryl Kauffman. They enjoyed going to breakfast and getting into mischief together. He was an excellent straight-faced jokester. He worked a number of years as a volunteer EMT and loved the people he came in contact with. Lon and Sue had four children, Jennifer Ketchum, Cheryl Ketchum Brooks, Aric (Megan) Ketchum, who were married June 18 in Blodgett ICU so that their dad could be best man, and Nichole (Scott) Elvert. They have 11 grandchildren, Victoria, Jake, and Ethan Januszewski, David and Nathanial Brooks, Alexandra and Andrew Russon, Aric and Robert Elvert, and Aiden and Alyssa Morton. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sue; children Jenny, Aric, and Nikki; his beloved grandchildren; his parents-in-law Keith and Pricilla Hampel; sister Bonnie (Dick) Steward; brothers-in law Mark (Deb) and Scott (Caryl) Hampel, as well as sister-in-law Karen (Robert) Couch; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lyle and Edith Ketchum; his parents, Lyle and Beverly; his brother Mark; sister Lou Ann; and by his daughter, Cheryl.
