The death of Mrs. W. L. Kidd, 76, came as a shock to the community last Monday morning. The funeral was held from the late residence at 306 West Washington street on Wednesday afternoon. Rev. C. J. Kruse was in charge. Mrs. Kidd died from pneumonia. She had been active as one of the chairmen of committees in the Methodist evangelistic campaign. She had been ill only a few days. She was born in Jackson county, March 12, 1853, and came with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Chittle, to Orleans township when a girl. Mr. and Mrs. Kidd would have celebrated their forty-eighth wedding anniversary on February 1. Aside from her parents, Mrs. Kidd is survived by two children, Frank Kidd of White Cloud; Mrs. Ralph Dumond of this city; five grandchildren, all of Ionia; one sister, Mrs. Mary Morse, who makes her home with her daughter, Mrs. H. C. Taggart; three nieces, Mrs. Taggart, Mrs. Elva Foster-Benedict of Lansing, Mrs. Hattie Foster-Anderson of San Francisco and Mrs. Ava Foster-Close of Denver; two nephews, Charles Morse of Ionia and Lute Morse of Ronald township. Mrs. Kidd was an active worker of the Methodist church. She was active in the women’s Relief Corps. Burial at Highland Park.
