Orleans – Mrs. S.T. Kidd died at her home in Orleans, March 20, 1901, after a
long illness borne with patience.  She was a loving wife and mother, a kind
neighbor and a ready helper in time of need.  She was married to S.T. Kidd in
October 1862, he having two sons and one daughter, to whom she has ever been a
devoted mother, as well as to their two sons, Walter, of Lakeview and James C.
of this place.  She was ever mindful of her children and grandchildren, and the
eldest of four sisters and was looked to for counsel and advice.  She will be
greatly missed by them, but their loss is her heavenly gain.  Sarah Amelia
Chittle was born in Monroe, Mich., April 28th, 1841, removing to this place with
her parents in 1860.  She became an active christian in early life and has ever
been found doing her Master’s work.  The funeral services were conducted by Rev.
J. W. Buell, assisted by Rev. C. Seymour of Ionia, at the home residence on
Friday, at 2:30 p.m.  The lessons read were Psalms 39 and John 14th chapter. 
Text found in 2nd Corinthians 5th chapter and 1st verse.  The floral tributes
were many and beautiful.

Mrs. Jennings and family, of Sheridan, Mrs. Stevenson and son, Mrs. M. Morse and
family, H.P. Foster and wife, Wm. Kidd and family, Col. Kidd, Mr. DeQuack and
Rev. and Mrs. Seymour, of Ionia, H.C. Taggart and wife, of Dildine, T. Kidd and
wife and Fred Sanborn and wife of Belding were in town Friday to attend the
funeral of the late Mrs. S.T. Kidd.
