Ionia Sentinel Standard, 31 Mar 1990

Orville Kiefer, 84, of 3274 Welch Road, Ionia, died Thursday at Ionia County 
Memorial Hospital.  Born June 10, 1905, in Westnuilly, Ohio, he was the son of 
Eli and Alice Ceasar Kiefer.  He was married to Sadie Austin in December 1923, 
in North Shade Township, Gratiot County.  They moved to their Welch Road farm 
home in 1938.  She died in March 1988.  He was a gravel hauler and farmer.

Surviving are a daughter, Arlene Challender of Portland; six grandchildren; 15 
great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Olin 
(Hernie) Smith of Perrinton.  A daughter, two brothers and a sister preceded 
him in death.

Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. from Hull Memorial Chapel, with the 
Rev. Kirk Starkweather of Ionia Church of the Nazarene officiating.  Burial 
will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.  The family will be at the funeral chapel 
Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
