Gary Robert Kilborn, age 72, of Ionia, passed away at Faith Hospice, Trillium 
Woods, on Sunday, July 13, 2014, following a long illness.  Gary was born on 
April 29, 1942 in Belding, Michigan the son of Rollo and Naomi (Chickering) 
Kilborn. 

He graduated from Belding High School and continued his education at Michigan 
State University where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Education.  Gary 
taught for nearly 25 years at Ionia Area Schools, retiring from teaching in 
1987.  After some time off, he reentered the workforce and spent several years 
as an Electrical Designer for Belco Industries in Belding prior to retiring for 
good.  Gary enjoyed reading and spending time at home.  During the last several 
months of his life, Gary spent a great deal of time in the care of many 
wonderful health care providers.  His family would like to especially thank the 
staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Critical Care Unit and Lack’s Unit, and the staff 
at Faith Hospice, Trillium Woods, for their professionalism and care, along 
with Drs. Patrick Fitzgibbon, Carlos Weiss and Richard Chambers.     
 
Gary is survived by two siblings, Gayle (Arlene) Kilborn of Conneaut, Ohio and 
Nancy (Carter) Huffman of Grand Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.  He was 
preceded in death by his parents.   
 
Interment has taken place next to his parents at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, 
near Belding.  Those wishing to express sympathy are welcomed to consider a 
contribution in Gary’s memory to the Alvah N. Belding Library, 302 E. Main
