Jim was the son of Richard and Gloria (Filmore) Kilchermann, born Jan. 15, 1940. Jim was a truck driver for 51 years and hauled his last run to Florida on Nov. 25, 2008. He logged over 3 million miles before he “retired” 10 years ago but continued driving independently. He loved his family, salmon fishing on Lake Michigan and NASCAR racing. He loved to laugh and loved to make others laugh with his jokes and stories. Jim married Joyce Hendershot on Aug. 16, 1986 and the couple made their home in Scottsville, where they owned a campground and restaurant. They later moved to Grant, Mich., where he owned a foster care home. Jim is survived by his loving wife Joyce; sons Brad (Julie) Kilchermann Joe Kilchermann, Daniel (Lynell) Kilchermann, Bill Sterling and James (Lori) Kilchermann Jr,; daughters, Shelly (Greg) Bancroft and Kris (Jim) Schafer; brothers, Tad (Bonnie) Kilchermann, Robert Kilchemann; sister Becky Nicosia; 16 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The will be a memorial service at the Kent City VFW hall on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the family in care of Joyce Kilchermann.
