Killion, age 79, of Elkton, and formerly of Ionia, loving mother, grandmother, and aunt, passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, following a brief illness. Kay was born May 5, 1923 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of Frank and Lillian (Robinson) Mitchell. Mrs. Killion was part owner and operator of William Morris and Son and was very active in the Professional Business Women’s Association. She was an avid gardener who loved her family very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Dwight; brother Harold, sister June Weiers; an infant sister, and grandson Danny Killion. Surviving are her children, James (Gretchen) Killion, of Ionia, and Cheryl (Randy) Haley of Elkton; four grandchildren; Chris Killion, of Ionia, Julie Killion, of the Ionia area; Casey (Carmen) Haley of McNeal, Arizona, and Marla (Anthony) Kopah, of Port Austin; three great-grandchildren, Tristen Kopah, and Ashley and Haley Killion; two brothers, Donald (Julie) Mitchell of Brennan, Washington; Eugene (Donna) Mitchell of Grand Rapids; five sisters, Maxine Hicks of Paradise, California; Joyce Williams of Gowen; Joanne (Bill) Lines of Hoodsport, Washington; Pat (Jerrold) Hoppough of Leroy; and Eva Wicks of Costa Mesa, California; sister-in-law, Virginia Mary of Grand Ledge; and many nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be Saturday at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Ionia with Rev. Robert C. Nixon officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Make A Wish Foundation (for terminally ill children) in memory of Kay E. Killion.
