She was born June 14, 1914, in Isabella County, the daughter of Chester and Caroline Rice Buxton. She was a resident of the Lansing area most of her life. She was graduated from Lansing Eastern High School. She married Alton Kilts in 1936. She is survived by her husband, two daughters, Alta May Smith of Ithaca and Ellie Steppey of Shelby Township; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; one brother, Claude Buxton of Charlotte; two sisters, Florence Crandell of Muir and Louisa Besonen of Trout Creek; one aunt Margaret Kalarik of Ionia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Beth Gentner in 1976, and one brother, Willard Buxton. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Gorsline-Runciman Co., Lansing Chapel, 900 E. Michigan Avenue, with the Rev. Howard Belknap officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memory Gardens, Okemos. The family will be at the funeral chapel, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4, and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorials have been established for the American Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association, in care of the funeral home.
