Kimball, prominent farmer, 69, of Kimball road, Lyons, passed away Wednesday at 12:15 at Carson City hospital where he had been a patient one day. He had been convalescing from major surgery a few months ago. Born September 21, 1895 on the farm where he lived his entire life, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Kimball and the third generation of the Kimball family living on the 500 acre farm. He attended rural Kimball school and was a graduate of Lyons high school. June 16, 1927 he married Mildred Bennett of Muir who survives. Other survivors are a son, Stephen, Jr., who lives on the farm, a daughter, Mrs. John Lincoln, of Ionia, seven grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Archie Bradley of Rochester. Mr. Kimball was past master of Lyons F & AM, No. 37, past worthy patron, Evergreen chapter, OES, Lyons; past watchman of shepherds, Ionic shrine, Ionia. He was still an officer when he died, holding the office of king the past 20 years. He was a life member of all three organizations and also a member of Ionia Commandery No. 11, Knights Templar. He served Lyons township as supervisor and treasurer. He was a former member of Ionia county board of canvassers, member of Farm Bureau, and served on Pewamo and Clinton county school boards. During World War II he was a member of the farm machinery rationing board. Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lyons Methodist church with the Rev. Gerald Hedlund officiating. Burial will be in Lyons cemetery. The body will be at Shaw-Rivett funeral home in Muir until noon Saturday.
