He was born on November 23, 1902 in Bloomfield Township, the son of David and Cora (Diehl) Kimball. Mr. Kimball was a long-time farmer who worked for Gasper Coal Company, Gibson’s Manufacturing in Greenville, and Fisher Body in Lansing for several years. He married the former Viola Main on March 12, 1924 in Belding. His family, friends, and neighbors knew Mr. Kimball as a man of quiet and steady disposition, kindness and patience. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Viola on April 28, 1992; son Leon Kimball on July 12, 1994; daughter Ella Hardy on May 27, 2002; two brothers, Andrew and Orson Kimball; two sisters, Iva Ruthruff and Fannie Kimball. Surviving are a sister Ruth Story of Muskegon, brother Everett Kimball of Blanchard, nephew L. G. (Helen) Lake of Saranac, five grandchildren, David (Bobbi) Kimball of California, Karen (Steve) Gilbert of Washington, Susan (Tom) Treadway of California, Kristine (Gary) Blair of California, and Dan (Rosi) Kimball of California; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Nixon, Pastor Emeritus, at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Cook Chapel, 200 Rich Street, Ionia, with interment following at Orleans Cemetery. A reception will follow at the United Methodist Church, corner of Potters Road and Johnson Road in Saranac. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
