Kimball, 69, of Ft. Bragg, Calif., formerly of Ionia, died Tuesday, July 12, 1994, at the home of his father in Orleans Township. Complete funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Cook Funeral Home, Ionia." SENTINEL-STANDARD, Ionia, MI: "OBITUARIES - Leon L. Kimball - IONIA - Leon L. Kimball, 69, of Fort Bragg, Calif., died Tuesday, July 12, 1994, in Ionia. He was born March 13, 1925, in Isabella County, Mich., the son of Clifford and Viola (Main) Kimball. He was graduated from Belding High School in 1943. He served as a paratrooper in the U.S. Army between 1944 and 1945 in the European Theater. He attended Central Michigan University and the University of New Mexico and received a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering in 1950. In 1977 he received a masters degree in business administration from St. Mary's College of the Redwoods, School of FIne Woodworking in 1986 in Fort Bragg, Calif. Mr. Kimball worked for U.S. Steel for 32 years as a metallurgical engineer. In 1980 and 1981 U. S. Steel sent him on a special assignment in Argentina. He was licensed by the State of California as a professional engineer in metallurgical engineering and separately in control and systems engineering. He retired in 1982. His is survived by three daughters, Karen (Steve) Gilbert of Monroe, Wash., Susan (Tom) Treadway of Livermore, Calif., Kristine Kimball of Concord, Calif.; two sons, David (Bobbi) Kimball of San Francisco, Calif., Daniel Kimball of Concord, Calif; four grandchildren, Maija, Justin, Harley and Levi Gilbert all of Monroe, Wash.; his father, Clifford Kimball of Ionia and one sister, Ella M. Hardy of Ionia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Kimball, in 1992. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cook Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence Hodge officiating. Interment will be in Orleans Cemetery.
