The Ionia Daily Sentinel, Thursday, March 11, 1880
We regret to announce the death of Oliver S. Kimball, which took place at his 
residence on Saturday evening last.  His demise was occasioned by the injuries 
received at Muir a short time since, and from which he seemed to be 
recovering.  Mr. Kimball was born in St. Lawrence County, N. Y., March 10th, 
1812, and was an old settler in Michigan, having moved to Calhoun County in 
1831 when there was but one house in the county.  He located his present farm 
in 1836, and moved here in 1849.  The deceased was noted for his excellent 
qualities of head and heart, and enjoyed the respect and esteem of all who 
knew him.  His loss will be much felt.  The funeral took place at the Kimball 
school house on Tuesday, Rev. G. Ransom officiating, and was well attended by 
all classes, and by old settlers in particular.
